Mike & Rita Black
Mike and Rita have been longtime members and leader in the Camp Kooch community. Mike has led the Backpacking program for decades and Rita has been in charge of the Trip Food department for equal time. They are eberyone’s surrogate grandparents up on Deer Island. Here are their thoughts:
We want to comment on the “Yukon River Trip” . We applaud all six of them (Mick, Sam, Noah, Budda, Eli, Drew) for their sense of courage and adventure. We also, observe a loyalty to Kooch-i-ching and a gratefulness to the organization for starting them on the path of this wonderful endeavor. Their loyalty to each other is born out of shared hardships and the realization that the group is stronger than the sum of their individual parts.
They have excelled as counsellors, teachers, friends, trip organizers, and leaders by example. They are adults who put the campers first, displaying kindness, patience and creativity.
With their positive attitude, this group has inspired campers to accept challenges, do their best and carry a positive attitude at camp and at home.
We look forward to following their adventure of a lifetime.
