Henry Weil
Henry Weil (20) was Mick and Sam’s junior camper back in 2017 and 2018, as well as fellow staff/CIT to all members in 2022-2024. Henry has been a trip assistant for both Mick and Schrage, and was in Noah’s junior unit summer of 2023. Henry shared his thoughts on the guys on the Yukon trip that he came to know well.
Noah:
Noah is the definition of leading by doing. While authoritative and stern when necessary, I learned most just by observing him. The way he carries himself, makes decisions, and treats others are all qualities I strive to embody. Noah inspires those around him simply by being himself, one of the most powerful traits a person can have.
Schrage:
I didn’t know Schrage well until we were paired as staff on a canoeing trip. His more laid-back leadership style gave me the space to grow, allowing me to gain real experience making decisions. Schrage taught me how to stay calm under pressure, and more importantly, how to have confidence in myself. That confidence has stuck with me ever since.
Mick:
Mick has given me more opportunities for growth than anyone else in my life. Before my first year on staff, he took a leap by asking me to be his assistant. What started as a working relationship quickly evolved into a strong mentorship and close friendship. Mick became the person I turned to for guidance, whether I needed help solving a problem at camp, thinking through something in my personal life, or just navigating how to grow up.
He taught me how to act with maturity while still staying true to myself, how to be professional without losing a sense of fun, and how to approach each day with a mindset of service and full effort. Watching how seriously he takes the role of creating joy for kids taught me what it means to work with purpose. He leads with energy, care, and humor, all qualities I now try to bring to my own leadership. Mick didn’t just teach me how to do the job but taught me how to be someone others can rely on. It would be impossible to thank him enough for all he’s given me.
